2023 Roadmap

Crossposted from out latest public Patreon post

Hello everyone, happy March!

I’d like to start the month off by discussing future plans for Destination Delirium and laying out a rough timeline of the upcoming content.

First off, this month I’m going to be finishing up some systems level stuff including:

  1. HTML5 Build/Demo
  2. Room Customization System
  3. Character Screen/Shapeshifting System

(More details on those later)

For the next 6 months or so our focus will be on building out the first main hub area of the game with new locations to explore and characters to interact with. This includes adding more rooms to the starting hotel and building out the surrounding cyberpunk utopia city it’s located in.

The main street in front of the hotel will be slowly populated over time with various NPCs, including fellow resort guests, local residents and various street performers.

Also, with each update we’ll be adding a new location or two to visit. In no particular order, all of these sub-locations are currently being worked on and already have some concept art, writing or characters in progress:

Chapel

Theater

Moonlight Bordello

Rave Cave

The Grinding Gear

The Cuddle Pit

Hotel Banquet Hall

Atelier Vexilahstra

Library Uh... Still working on the actual final names for some of those.

Also the following characters which are currently in the game are planned to have major content additions:

Felia (The Hydromancer) She’ll potentially have up to 5 “levels” of fights, the current one is just level 1. The second one is more of a sparring match where you get to attack back, and at the third level she masters the use of water tentacles. I’ll let 4 and 5 be a surprise for later.

Kaoru (The Oni in the laundry room)

Dr. V (The Elf Doctor from the intro)

[Basically nearly everyone in the clinic waiting room]: Eleanor (The catgirl) The currently unnamed ex-gladiator (Will see them post-op) Bertram (The Cyborg Repairman)

I doubt we’ll finish ALL of that by the end of August, but I’d like to put a pretty good dent in it by then. At that point (while we still continue to flesh out the city more) I’d like to introduce the 2nd main hub area. It’ll be a more rural section of the planet compared to the city but still pretty theme-parky and with more of a fantasy flavor being more like a ren faire, carnival and state fair at the same time. The main attraction there will be a colosseum with different opponents you can challenge which will be the main place to put the combat system through it’s paces.

Also, around that time I would like to introduce the game’s first playable dungeon. Like the combat system, it’s more of a minigame than a full RPG experience, they’ll basically be semi-randomized levels where you try to overcome various traps, puzzle and enemies to obtain loot. (Most of which will be things you can use as decorations in your room.) Since the game’s setting is a theme park, in-universe the dungeons are treated as somewhere between a funhouse, an adventure ride (Like the type they have at Disney world with storylines and actors and all that), and a gameshow style contest with fabulous prizes. So basically like… the themepark’s haunted house will be an actual haunted house with some lewd hijinks where you can win an unlockable set of spooky furniture for your room. That kinda thing.

Then the last few months of the year will probably be spent adding more content to all the above areas, adding opponents to the arena and doing updates and fine-tuning on that first dungeon.

I’m not thinking *too* far head so I’m not sure what 2024 will bring yet. At that point we’ll want to review the content and feedback we’ve gotten on the game so far to figure out what we should focus on more through the next year. But for now I just want to focus on making it to 2024 in the first place. Hopefully with your support we can make it there!
